Anna Melnikova Interview: Glad to Have Returned to Russia
filed in Interview on Jan.02, 2010

dancesportinfo.ru posted an interview with Anna Melnikova in early December. Like their interview with Dmitri Timokhin, this is a long interview. I used Google translate to read the contents but it couldn’t handle the whole thing. So, I don’t know what she was saying toward the end of the interview. Here’s the link for the translation.
She talks about:
- how she started ballroom dancing after doing figure skating as a child
- why she chose to specialize in Latin
- why she moved to Europe (because she couldn’t find a partner)
- how much she likes to have returned to Russia
- how much she likes to have a Russian speaking partner (Slavik is a Ukranian)
- how she felt when she started to dance with Slavik
- what she likes to do in her spare time
- how she picked the music for “Gypsy Dance”
I didn’t know that she chose the music from “Cruel Romance,” one of her favorite movies, for a show dance routine. I am very glad that she did. As I said before, “Gypsy Dance” is my favorite dance.

If you copy and paste the end of the interview that google didn’t translate into their translator, you’ll get the end of the interview:
Do you have friends do not dance from the environment?
- Yes, my school friends, but as I always am in the dance environment, our paths diverged slightly. And friends of my family I have great respect. But now you can not visit them often. I hope before the New Year I will be able to overtake all.
- How do you think is it worth to sacrifice education for the sake of dancing?
- I sacrificed my education. But you never know how everything goes. But I have always been open to being a champion, and without thinking dropped out, finished externally last 10, 11 th grades.

In general I believe that education is very necessary, and perhaps I have come to this, just a little later. I would very much like to get an education designer or even something close to the world of fashion.
And if you feel that you would succeed, have the strength and belief in yourself, you have to go where sent heart. At that time, my intuition prompted the right path.
- And in conclusion of our interview, what would you advise all mates, who also want to achieve such success in the dance?
- To improve, to value their rivals and stay beautiful. After all, if a woman feels beautiful and confident, then it would succeed. Love and be loved. Believe in yourself and in God.

Thanks a lot! I’ll use the copy/paste next time I have problems.
I like Anna’s last comment!
