Slavik Kryklyvyy Interview: Time for Change
filed in Interview on Jan.03, 2010

I don’t know how I missed this interview with Slavik Kryklyvyy posted over at the dancesport.ru… Well, it’s because I don’t understand Russian. duh! Anyways, this is also an excellent interview along with the ones with Anna Melnikova and with Dmitri Timokhin. You can read the English translation of the interview here, thanks to Google translate.
He talks about a little bit of everything: his childhood, his family, his move to Poland and America, internet, tv, and sports, some of which do not interest him at all. Of course, he talks about dancing in details: dancing in general, his role models, his partners, and what changed over time in terms of his focus.
Here are some of the things I picked up from the interview. If you are a Slavik fan, you should read the interview in its entirety.
- “Very predatory cat,” in response to “How do you describe your partner?”
- He was saddened by lots of negativity toward him when he came back to Russia after dancing for Belgium and for the U.S.
- He thinks he is much less selfish because he is more mature (34 years old now), and thinks more about dancing with/for the partner.
- he is not involved with the choice of his partner’s costumes.
- His goals today is to make their dancing more confident and more accurate, and he knows that it takes time for a new partnership to achieve what he wants.
- He thinks he more or less rested in the past 2 years with very few competitions, and he knows that other couples took lessons and practiced everyday while he was inactive. As other couples have advanced, he thinks it will take time for Slavik and Anna to achieve a success.
I liked what I read. I hope he will be able to achieve his goals with Anna.
